LOVED working on this. I was inspired by Saar's collage, assemblage work so I decided to experiment a bit and create a collage illustration using some of her work. Hope you all like it.
Betye Irene Saar is a visual storyteller, printmaker, renowned for her work n the assemblage. Saar has created assemblage works that explore the social, political, and economic underpinnings of America’s collective memory. All of her artworks are made with recycled materials, often found in secondhand shops. For her, Assemblage is about using recycled materials, found objects from the past. The idea is that with each cycle of history, the world gets a little bit cleaner.
