Threads of Time: Weaving Nature, Love, and Tradition

Inspired by a 2000-year-old Tamil poem, this illustration weaves together love, nature, and tradition. The Kurunji flowers, blooming once every 12 years, symbolize deep connections—between the land, the bees, and the people who cherish them. A golden thread ties past and present, human and nature, reminding us of the delicate bonds we must protect. Creating this illustration was a truly enriching experience. I loved bringing the essence of this ancient Tamil poem to life—blending nature, tradition, and emotion into a single frame. The process of weaving colors, textures, and symbolism felt deeply fulfilling. 
However, the project took an unexpected turn when the editor decided to go with photographs instead of illustrations. While I understand the choice, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed and a little sad. But that’s the nature of creative work—some projects see the light of day, while others remain as cherished pieces in our journey.
